File Browser

Open On-Demand provides an web file browser to transfer, preview, and edit files without requiring specialized software. Please note that this functionality is provided only as a convience, and does not replace the need for a full SSH/SFTP file transfer client for regular use.

In the navigation bar, go to Files > Home directory, the browser interface allows users to perform the following actions:

  • Upload: click the Upload button and follow the steps to upload individual files or entire directories.
  • Download: mark the checkbox on one or more files or directories, then click the Download button. Multiple files will be compressed in a Zip file automatically for download.
  • Edit text files: expand the actions menu to the right of the filename, then Edit. A basic text editor appears in the browser for quick operations.
  • View images: clicking image files opens them in the browser for supported image formats.
  • Copy/Move file operations: mark the checkbox on the files you wish to copy or move, navigate to the destionation directory, then click Copy or Move to perform the action.
  • Delete: mark the checkbox on the files you want to remove and click Delete. _Warning: deletion is permanent and files can't be recovered. There's no "Recycle Bin" folder.

The navigation menu in the left side of the page the allows users to navigate quickly to their Home directories; the Groups directory for shared files; and, for eligible customers, their RStore allocation.
