Proposal Development

The UCF ARCC supports faculty in their proposal development. Here you will find information about the ARCC facilities you can use, and information about support letters.

ARCC Facilities Statement

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is home to the Advanced Research Computing Center (ARCC). This is capable of housing a variety of high-end computational resources, including existing clusters, science DMZ, and storage systems. The ARCC is located within the Central Florida Research Park adjacent to the UCF Orlando campus and is a full member of Florida’s Sunshine State Education and Research Computing Alliance (SSERCA).

The ARCC houses two High Performance Computing ("HPC") clusters, Stokes and Newton, and 1.2 PB of storage. Stokes includes over 8,000 Intel Xeon® CPU cores and Newton is a GPU accelerated cluster with a total of over 130 NVidia Tesla V100 and H100 GPUs across 54 nodes. All nodes connect via 100/200 Gbps HDR Infiniband and are supported by a 1.2 PB Lustre-based storage server. All capabilities are available for faculty and their students to complete computational research and use for course instruction.

The ARCC data center is outfitted with 3-phase, 208 volt 60 amp power, as well as industrial scale UPS modules and a separate generator from the main building for critical ARCC equipment. It also has five redundant, industrial scale air conditioning units. There is sufficient power, cooling, and rack space for the mentioned equipment.

In addition, the ARCC maintains a dedicated research network and Science Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) for high-speed, low-latency data needs for research. This network has direct, unfettered access to the Internet2 and implements a frictionless 10 Gb connection from border router to wall jack. This research network is also available for use for the current project.

Support Letters

If you need or would like a support letter from the UCF ARCC for your proposal, please reach out to the Director of the ARCC, Dr. Glenn Martin, and he will provide such a letter. Please include the name of your proposal and the funding agency or program to which you are applying.
